Recently, a wave of bank failures led to government intervention to prevent a possible banking crisis. The FDIC, the Treasury, and the Fed introduced a Bank Term Lending Program, providing a $25 billion loan backstop to safeguard uninsured depositors following the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank.
Subsequently, eleven major banks made a coordinated $30 billion uninsured deposit into First Republic Bank, likely backed by assurances from the Federal Reserve and Treasury.
As a result, banks rapidly accessed the program, leading to a $152 billion increase in borrowings from the Federal Reserve – the largest one-week borrowing since the height of the Financial Crisis. In the time since, this figure has skyrocketed to nearly $300 billion.

Recession Will be How It Ends?
Following these events, UBS and Credit Suisse joined forces in a hasty merger, while the Federal Reserve reactivated its dollar swap lines to supply liquidity to foreign banks.
On March 19, the Bank of Canada, the Bank of England, the Bank of Japan, the European Central Bank, the Federal Reserve, and the Swiss National Bank declared a joint effort to boost liquidity through the existing U.S. dollar liquidity swap line arrangements.
To enhance the effectiveness of swap lines in delivering U.S. dollar funding, the central banks presently offering U.S. dollar transactions agreed to increase the frequency of 7-day maturity operations from weekly to daily. These daily operations commenced on March 20 and are set to continue until at least the end of April.
